During one of the searches, officers found a suspected cannabis growing laboratory in the attic of a farmhouse located in the Varnių eldership. It contained growing cannabis plants and equipment intended for their cultivation.

During the search, a very large quantity of narcotic substances – cannabis and its parts – was also found and seized, as suspected. Some of it was vacuum-sealed, while another part was kept in sealed aluminum containers. Also found were cannabis plants uprooted, scales, mobile phones, equipment used for cannabis cultivation, and other items significant to the pre-trial investigation.
Additionally, officers found and seized, as suspected, more than 40 thousand euros in cash, four motorcycles believed to have been acquired with funds obtained from criminal activity, as well as a crossbow with arrows and 12-gauge ammunition.
In the ongoing pre-trial investigation, four individuals have been charged.
The pre-trial investigation continues under Article 265, Part 1 (illegal cultivation of poppies or cannabis) and Article 260, Part 3 (illegal possession of a very large quantity of narcotic or psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania.

For the criminal offense provided for in Article 260, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania, a prison sentence of ten to fifteen years is threatened.
The pre-trial investigation is organized and led by a prosecutor from the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Šiauliai District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the presumption of innocence, a person is considered innocent until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and recognized by a final court judgment.
