A special press conference was held in Paris on Tuesday.
The 54-year-old specialist, who has not worked as a coach in the past five years, signed a contract with the French Football Federation until 2030.
“This is an indescribable joy. Coaching the French national team was my only wish,” said Z. Zidane.
– What style will we play? I will talk about it in more detail at another press conference, but I like to play. I myself was the “number 10” on the field, that’s why I like goals, attacks.
I have lived in Spain for the past 25 years, so you know what that means. I was a leader on the field, and now I want to become a leader with my experience. I will work the way I imagine a coach’s job. You will see soon.”
Z. Zidane will take over the national team from another football legend of the country, Didier Deschamps.

The French team coached by the latter won the 2018 World Cup, became European runners-up in 2016, won the UEFA Nations League in 2021, and finished 4th in the most recent world championship.
Z. Zidane has not worked as a coach since 2021, when he left the Madrid “Real” team.
Having worked only at this club as a coach so far, Z. Zidane, as a strategist, won the UEFA Champions League three times in a row (2016–2018), became “La Liga” champion twice, won two Spanish and UEFA Super Cups, and also triumphed twice in the FIFA Club World Cup.
As a player, Z. Zidane played 108 matches for the French national team and scored 31 goals. In 1998, he became a world champion, and in 2000, a European champion.
