“I have a lot of patience (…) We’ll see what happens. I think there is a good chance that something might happen,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One when asked about possible progress in peace talks.

“If not, we’ll go back to what we were doing two days ago,” he noted.
Iran and the United States, after thirteen nights during which the US carried out strikes again, have refrained from attacks for three consecutive days, opening a small window for diplomacy after a previous ceasefire agreement aimed at opening the Strait of Hormuz collapsed.
Trump said Iranian leaders requested a meeting and explained that “the only reason they want to meet is because we are hitting them very hard.”
However, Tehran previously denied that direct talks were taking place, stating that intermediaries were only passing messages from Washington.
This pause in hostilities has eased pressure on global markets, but the situation remains unstable.
Saudi Arabia reported on Monday that it intercepted drones launched by Iran-linked groups in Iraq, while Tehran-backed Yemeni Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Trump also dismissed concerns that five months of war had depleted US ammunition stocks.
“We have a lot of ammunition,” he said. “We also have a lot of medium-level weapons, more than we could ever use, no matter what happens.”
However, he added that he would like larger reserves and complained that “so much has been given to Ukraine” in its war with Russia.
When asked if Saudi Arabia is considering joining the so-called Abraham Accords – US-mediated normalization agreements with Israel – Trump replied: “We haven’t talked about that, no.”
Trump was asked various questions about foreign policy, including what will happen with confiscated Venezuelan funds.
Trump said they could be allocated to the US military and hinted that Washington could similarly use funds from Iran.
“We take a lot of money. Billions and billions of dollars,” he said. “The same will happen with Iran.”
