A total of 11 candidates have been confirmed. There are 60 municipalities in Lithuania.
Rasa Bekėžienė, the former head of the city’s police commissariat, will seek to become the mayor of Klaipėda city, Tautvydas Džiauta will run in Alytus, Domas Griškevičius, the Vice-Speaker of the Seimas, in Šiauliai city, and Sandra Jakė in Šiauliai district.

Renaldas Maziukas has been nominated as a candidate for mayor of Druskininkai, Petras Nevulis in Panevėžys district, Julius Strampickas in Prienai district.

Dominykas Tutkus will run in Anykščiai district, former MP Darius Ulickas in Raseiniai district, and current mayor Darius Varnas in Ukmergė district. Current mayor Rasa Vitkauskienė has also been nominated as a candidate in Alytus district.

The remaining mayoral candidates are expected to be announced in September.
Direct elections for mayors and municipal councils will take place in February–March 2027.
