Although the man felt an inner premonition not to go into the stormy sea, stubbornness prevailed, and it almost became a fatal mistake.
“THANK YOU FOR BEING ALIVE.
Yesterday I might not have lived to see the 44th day of my journey.
I went to Smiltynė to pick up the shoes I had left after my hike. The sea was stormy – strong wind, huge waves, cold water. Inside, there was a feeling that maybe it would be better not to go into the water today. But stubbornness prevailed.
I went in.
At first, everything was wonderful. Waves, diving, freedom. And then the bottom disappeared under my feet. The current started to carry me away. I tried to go back, looked for the bottom, floated on my back, but nature was stronger.
And then I remembered that this was already the second time in my life.
About fifteen years ago, I was in a very serious accident. At that moment, it seemed that life was over. Everything went dark. Then I only managed to ask: “God, have I already done everything?”
Yesterday in the sea, the same thought returned. The same words. And again, a strange calm came over me. There was no longer a struggle – only complete surrender to what would be.

I don’t know how long it lasted – five, ten, or fifteen minutes. Time was gone.
And then a miracle happened. The current carried me onto a shoal. I felt the bottom under my feet. I got out onto the shore about a kilometer from where I had entered.
Yesterday I once again understood a very important lesson – against nature, man is very small. It doesn’t matter how well you can swim. Professional swimmers and divers drown. My mistake was unmeasured courage and excessive self-confidence.
Therefore, today I want to tell both myself and you – let’s protect ourselves. Let’s cherish life. Sometimes one careless decision can cause pain to many people.
