As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Friday, during the meeting with the Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the minister expressed Lithuania’s interest in further deepening ties with the Philippines and emphasized the importance of a rules-based international order.
The head of Lithuanian diplomacy also reaffirmed Lithuania’s support for the 2016 arbitration ruling on the South China Sea.
Among other things, K. Budrys highlighted the growing contribution of Lithuanian businesses to the digital transformation of the Philippines. The minister stated that Lithuanian companies are already implementing projects in the field of public service digitalization, and the information and communication technology sector remains one of the most promising areas for further cooperation.

The MFA states that he also invited the Philippines to join the Vilnius Convention – the first legally binding international treaty aimed at protecting human rights in the context of artificial intelligence technologies.
K. Budrys is visiting Manila, the capital of the Philippines, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
Lithuania and the Philippines established diplomatic relations in 1991, and since 2023, the Lithuanian Embassy in South Korea has been accredited to the Philippines.
