Social media users in several cities, including Batumi, Zugdidi, and Kutaisi, report power outages. The power went out shortly after midnight, on the night of July 23-24.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement, but media, citing the Georgian State Electrosystem, which manages the country’s electricity transmission network, report that the disruption was caused by the disconnection of a power line connecting the Georgian and Turkish electricity systems. As a result, electricity supply was restricted in most parts of the country.
The operator states that work to restore electricity supply is currently underway.
The true extent of the disruption remains unclear for now.
“Even the Tbilisi TV tower went out,” internet users write on social media.

15min sports journalist Vilius Malyška, currently in Tbilisi, also shares that the entire Georgian capital is currently without electricity.
“I live on the 19th floor, so you can see that the whole city is black, shrouded in darkness,” the journalist reports.
