The nostalgic “Raketa” sailed its first passengers on a regular route Kaunas–Nida–Kaunas in June 2020. For four seasons, everyone who wished could recall historical journeys along the Nemunas.
Responding to customer feedback, the ship was improved, but it also faced significant challenges every year – sometimes it would not sail due to hydrological drought and low water levels, sometimes it would stop in the middle of the river.
Then, when the engine broke down, border guards would come to the rescue, transferring passengers to the shore. In such cases, holidaymakers would complete their journey by bus.
Finally, last year it was decided to sacrifice the fifth season – a radical overhaul of the stalled engine was undertaken. The production of the new one was taken on by the well-known company “Scania Lietuva”, but the changes took considerably longer – this June, “Raketa” did not start.
