According to the authoritarian leader, special operations forces were deployed along Belarus’s southern border by his direct order.

He also proposed sending citizens accused of what the government called violations of labor discipline to military service. According to him, after short training, they could be assigned to special operations forces deployed near Ukraine.

“Everyone who cannot work – send them to the army and to the southern border. To the forest: our men are there. Special operations forces were deployed along the Ukrainian border by my order,” A. Lukashenka stated.

The Belarusian leader suggested that the same approach should be applied to government officials who fail to perform their assigned tasks.

A. Lukashenka’s statements came at a time when Belarusian military activity is intensifying near the Ukrainian border, including the construction of road infrastructure, ammunition depots, and fuel and lubricant warehouses, noted the news portal “United 24”.

This is not the first time Belarus has deployed special operations units near Ukraine since Russia launched a full-scale invasion. Minsk has also repeatedly moved forces to the border, while claiming that these deployments are defensive in nature.

Previously, the Belarusian authorities expanded the militarization of secondary education by sending high school students to mandatory multi-day military-patriotic camps in accordance with the 2026 order of the Education Department of the Mogilev City Executive Committee.
