The accident happened in pouring rain. At the time of the impact, the judges had declared a CODE60 phase. Later, the “Dream2Drive” team (Porsche No.10) was given a 5 min penalty. However, “RD Signs” had to withdraw from the race – the rear of the Lambo was destroyed both by the “Porsche” impact and the barriers.

During the TV broadcast, this moment was not clearly shown, so it was not easy for many to form an objective opinion.

Immediately after the accident, with emotions running high, Tauras Tunyla, the founder of the “Dream2Drive” team, commented on the situation as follows: “The Lamborghini unexpectedly slowed down sharply:”

Retracts previous comment, announces new one

On Tuesday, Tauras Tunyla publicly released a video in which he retracted his previous comment and explained what he could say about the incident after collecting all available material.

Why did the accident happen?

In the video comment, Tauras Tunyla mentions several reasons: very bad weather conditions and visibility, unfortunately coinciding circumstances, and comments more extensively on the CODE60 phase.

“We remained silent for a long time because we wanted to gather all the facts. We do not want to continue with emotionally charged comments. A detailed analysis of the entire situation is presented in this video. We sincerely apologize to Paulius and the entire “Lamborghini” team for the incident.

This video is not an attempt to shirk responsibility or make excuses. Its purpose is to explain in detail all the circumstances of the incident and present the facts. We invite you to familiarize yourselves with all the information and decide for yourselves whether it was a racing incident (racing incident) or a driver behaviour violation (driver behaviour), as decided by the race director,” says T.Tunyla.

According to him, it was impossible for pilot M.Kajak to see CODE60 before hitting the “Lamborghini”. And here’s why.

In his filmed comment, T.Tunyla denies that the judges had already shown CODE60 flags at several posts before the incident (it was precisely because of this stated fact that the team received extremely negative evaluation).

He also claims that only a few seconds passed from the announcement of CODE60 until the accident. Therefore, it was impossible for the pilot to react properly.
