Her father, Joshua Hottle, confirmed the tragic fact. In a live broadcast on his Facebook account, the man, using American Sign Language, announced the loss of his daughter. Later, he clarified to the news portal “TMZ” that the tragic accident occurred in Maryland, and he himself was urgently flying from Texas to retrieve his daughter’s body. Both Kaylee and her father belonged to the deaf community – they came from a family where deafness is passed down from generation to generation.

An official statement was also issued by the Texas School for the Deaf, where K. Hottle was studying in her final years.
“It is with immense sorrow that we share the tragic news – our graduate Kaylee Hottle died yesterday in a car accident in Frederick (Maryland). In this incredibly difficult time, our hearts are with Kaylee’s family, friends, classmates, and everyone who knew and loved her,” the school’s statement on social media reads. Representatives also asked the public for peace and respect for the privacy of her loved ones, urging not to spread rumors about the circumstances of the accident until more official information is available.
On the big screen, K. Hottle became most famous for portraying Jia – a deaf orphan cared for by Dr. Ilene Andrews (actress Rebecca Hall) who managed to establish a unique bond with the giant Kong. In both films with the ape-man, she communicated using sign language. For her impressive performance in the 2024 film, the young actress was nominated for the prestigious “Saturn” award in the Best Young Actress category. Besides the “Godzilla” franchise, in 2021 she played a role in an episode of the series “Magnum P.I.”.

Born on May 1, 2007, in Atlanta, Georgia, Kaylee began her journey in the entertainment industry by acting in commercials. She appeared in videos for the deaf community, including an advertisement for “Convo,” a company providing interpretation services.
The talented girl was active not only in front of the cameras – in her free time, she engaged in sports and successfully represented her school’s track and field team.
