Heavy rains washed over Latvia: some roads are still impassable

In the Talsi region, western Latvia, the entire average July rainfall fell on Monday. An orange alert level was declared.

Floods washed away several roads in this region. The regional road Sloka-Talsi (P128) and a local road near the slopes of Dursupe mill were damaged. Rescue operations began in several places on Monday evening, but these road sections currently remain closed on Tuesday as well.

According to the local news portal reTalsi.lv, the situation in Balgale village is currently difficult due to heavy rainfall and floods.

The P127 national highway in Dursupe is completely impassable due to deformed road surface. Other road sections where washouts were detected are also restricted. Public transport is also not running.
