“I am completely calm, I defended myself publicly, I wrote it myself, no one expressed any problems to me 11 years ago. “The interest in my personal life and my academic work, professional career, professional path, apparently, has intensified at the moment, perhaps it is such a starting element for any official who has started such duties,” he said.
Recently, questions have been raised on social networks regarding M. Sinkevičius’ doctoral dissertation. The latest episode concerns possible plagiarism, where excerpts from other authors’ works are presented under his name.
In turn, ISM University of Management and Economics, where the Prime Minister defended his written work, told BNS that it does not plan to review the written work.
“We trust the decision made by the scientists and do not plan to review the defended dissertation. A doctoral degree is granted only after fulfilling all doctoral requirements. The mentioned dissertation was defended 10 years ago. The authenticity of all scientific works was checked according to the academic standards of that time,” the university stated in a comment sent to BNS.

“Methodological inaccuracies can occur in any work. The decision on granting the degree was made by an international dissertation defense council, which included scientists from ISM, Copenhagen Business School, Vilnius University, and Kaunas University of Technology. Publicly expressed evaluations or opinions, according to international academic practice, are not in themselves a basis to question the scientists’ decision,” ISM stated.
In 2007, M. Sinkevičius obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Business Administration at the Faculty of Economics of Vilnius University, and in 2008, he completed Bachelor’s studies in Law at Mykolas Romeris University.
In 2009, he obtained a Master’s degree in Marketing and Management at ISM University of Management and Economics, and in 2015, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the same university.
