Wedding curiosity in Kaunas: the unique newlyweds' car left the luxury competitor in the shadow

A couple won the project “Wheels of Love” that took place on M1 for several weeks, during which it was possible to get the opportunity to use the legendary “Silkutė” as a wedding car, and the driver was willing to be the M1 program director himself, show host Arnoldas Eisimantas. Couples planning their wedding specifically on July 18 could register for the game, which greatly limited the number of participants. However, even with such conditions, as many as 70 couples from all over Lithuania registered.

“The newlyweds’ emotions upon seeing the car were the best. Passersby on the streets and drivers on the roads react the same way – waving, honking, smiling. By the way, a funny situation turned out: at this celebration, ‘Silkutė’ competed with a ‘Rolls-Royce,’ which the parents rented for the newlyweds for this occasion. But I can confidently say that ‘Silkutė’ won against luxury without competition – few people took photos by the ‘Rolls,’ while ours became a wonderful highlight for photo sessions,” Arnoldas Eisimantas smiled as he shared his impressions.

Later, while congratulating the newlyweds and giving them gifts, a toast related to “Silkutė” was also made.

“We wished the groom to hold this marriage firmly in his hands, just as one should hold the steering wheel of ‘Silkutė.’ Because it doesn’t have power steering, and neither does the marriage – everything must be held in your own hands,” said Arnoldas.

In fact, he was not only the driver of this wedding but also had to wave a broom near the Church of the Resurrection of Christ.

“After the ceremony, guests were throwing petals, and they fell on the steps. The priest came out and said, ‘So who will collect the petals?’ I volunteered, went with the priest to some church storerooms, was handed a broom, and had to work… If you see a sign in Kaunas saying ‘Kaunas is cleaning up,’ know that I am the one cleaning Kaunas there,” laughed A. Eisimantas.

And although he did not have the chance to raise a glass for the newlyweds’ happiness during the celebration, at least “Silkutė” received its reward for responsible work – it greedily “drank” half a liter of oil…

“Silkutė” will be gifted to one of the listeners

On the occasion of National Men’s Day this year, “Silkutė,” which traveled around Norway with the M1 Men’s Expedition and became its star, will soon be given to one of the M1 listeners.

M1 show hosts Ričardas Mikavičius and Arnoldas Eisimantas, who have traveled thousands of exciting and sometimes adventurous kilometers with “Silkutė,” can confidently testify: this car is definitely not suitable for hide-and-seek because people photograph it on every corner. Whether moving on the roads or standing in the yard, it instantly stands out from others.

“Agree, many older, classic cars on the street get more attention than those that have just rolled out of the showroom. They have their own emotion, so even the gloomiest passerby smiles when passing by. ‘Silkutė’ is exactly that. But you have to understand that you will not win a flawless vehicle straight from the factory, but a prize with a story. Those who watched the M1 Men’s Expedition adventures saw that we had to push it, pull it, look for auto repair shops, and crawl through the salon into the trunk. The value of this prize is measured not in money but in stories,” A. Eisimantas is convinced.

“I want herring!”

This summer’s M1 slogan is “Love season. Summer with M1.” As proof of love to its listeners, the radio station decided to gift this very beloved team member, the M1 contemporary car “Audi 100,” to one of the lucky ones. You just need to register on the project page, wait for the hosts’ call, and most importantly, say the phrase “I want herring!” when answering.

Listeners who correctly fulfill this condition immediately receive limited edition M1 socks with a herring as a gift. They automatically become a ticket to the project final. The final and the draw will take place this weekend, July 24, in Klaipėda during the Sea Festival. Then it will be revealed who will become the new owner of M1’s “Silkutė.” A mandatory condition to win the “Audi 100” is to participate live in the event during the draw.
