According to one of the agency’s interlocutors, the President of Ukraine will most likely appoint the Commander of the Joint Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapat, to replace O. Syrskyi, and the decision may be made within a few days.

The second source clarified that the final decision on this matter has not yet been made, and there are 11 people on the list of potential candidates. V. Zelensky’s advisor Dmytro Lytvyn refused to comment.
V. Zelensky confirmed on the social network “X” that he met with M. Drapat on Monday, but did not give any hints about plans to change the commander-in-chief.
Discussions about the possible resignation of O. Syrskyi are taking place against the backdrop of the biggest crisis in the military leadership during V. Zelensky’s presidency.

M. Fedorov stated at a press conference that he sought O. Syrskyi’s resignation, accusing him of blocking military reforms, and that it was the commander-in-chief who presented the president with an “ultimatum” demanding his dismissal.
V. Zelensky previously acknowledged that the relationship between the minister and the armed forces commander seriously deteriorated and they stopped communicating directly.
Earlier, the Financial Times wrote that the President of Ukraine is ready to dismiss O. Syrskyi if he finds a military leader capable of ensuring a smooth transfer of powers while maintaining stable defense along the 1200-kilometer-long front line.
