For outstanding merits in nurturing Lithuanian identity, encouraging the involvement of Lithuanians living abroad in Lithuania’s life, and creating prosperity in the homeland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs medal was awarded to Sigita Balzekas, president of the Balzekas Lithuanian Cultural Museum (USA), longtime promoter of Lithuania-Ukraine relations Beatrice Beliavciv (Ukraine), composer and leader of the Chicago Lithuanian youth choir “Polėkis” Kęstutis Jonas Daugirdas (USA), longtime editor of the weekly “Mūsų pastogė” Dalia Doniela (Australia), one of the leaders of the Lithuanian community in Brazil Janete Jakatanvisky (Brazil), and leader of the Toronto Lithuanian folk dance ensemble “Gintaras” Romas Jonušonis (Canada).
