Ukmergė Animal Shelter “Klajūnas” posted a video from a surveillance camera installed on the organization’s premises on Facebook. It shows how at 18:37 a very strong wind with rain began to rage in the area.
At first, the wind only tore branches of heavily swaying trees and scattered them around the shelter’s territory, but later one tree could not withstand the force of the wind and crashed onto the dog enclosures. Then another thinner tree fell.
As the animal caretakers rejoiced on Facebook, their wards were unharmed, but damages were unavoidable.

On Saturday, the storm caused more damage to residents and businesses. As we wrote, in Kabeliai village, the Kabeliai (Makaravičiai) oak tree – a nature heritage object protected by the Varėna district municipality – fell on a residential house. The roof of the building was damaged by the impact, but no people were harmed.
