This was stated during a briefing in Kyiv by U.S. Congressman Jim Himes, reports the correspondent of “RBC-Ukraine”.
Himes said that Lavrov’s threats mean three things.
The first is a sign of complete despair, as for the first time in a long time Russia is losing its positions in Ukraine according to overall indicators.
“The Russian people should look at the sacrifice they are being asked for – their blood, their sons – for this mad dictator who is losing in Ukraine,” Himes said.
He added that in the coming months the Ukrainian army will continue to reclaim territories, which will cost Russia a huge price.
Second, according to the congressman, it is an understanding of the mindset of a person who commits war crimes without restraint.
He noted that threats to civilians and diplomats show how easily Russia targets hospitals, maternity wards, and non-governmental organizations providing assistance to communities near the front line.

The third effect, according to Himes, will be completely opposite to what Moscow expects. The congressman stated that he is already planning another trip to Kyiv and intends to return to Washington together with a senator to seek additional resources for Ukraine.
“All that Sergei Lavrov represents is exactly what free people must fight against,” he summarized.
Earlier, “RBC-Ukraine” reported that on May 25 Lavrov threatened new strikes on Kyiv during a conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and urged foreign diplomats to leave the city.
Moscow announced “systematic strikes” on targets in the capital.
In response, Ukraine called Russia’s statements blackmail and provocation, showing Moscow’s interest in continuing the war.
