Although the spectators were rained on several times during the competition, N. Laurinavičius said it did not spoil the celebration at all. On the contrary – it only added extra excitement.
“It didn’t spoil it at all. Let the drivers not be upset, but the races are much more interesting in the rain. If you dress comfortably, put on comfortable shoes and don’t pay attention to style, then the races are very good,” the woman told Žmonės.lt.
Speaking about her image, Nerija said that this time she chose practicality over beauty because of the rain: “I had planned to wear completely different shoes, which I wanted to wear, but until the last minute my husband and I kept checking which looked better. Finally, we decided to go with sports shoes designed for the forest. We thought maybe we’d get by and no one would take too many photos.”
For Nerija, this event is not just entertainment – it is a long-standing tradition that connects several generations. Her husband’s family has been directly involved in the history of these races.
“These are definitely not my first races. It would be hard to count because I have been attending since childhood, and my husband has probably participated in all of them. His father won the very first ‘1006 kilometers race,’ so this is a big event in our family,” she said.
According to N. Laurinavičius, her father-in-law not only participated in the first competition but stood at the starting line three times in total: “He actually won the first one with the ‘Porsche’ team.”

Having seen several world-class events up close in the USA, the influencer did not spare praise for the organizers in Lithuania. According to her, our country can proudly boast of what it creates.
“I will say that everything here is done very professionally. It’s incredible that we, as such a small country of 3 million, do everything at such a high level. There is plenty of everything – food, drinks. Look at how many Lithuanian racers we have; that alone is something to be happy about. I would say we should compare ourselves less with others and celebrate what we have. Sometimes I notice that the names are foreign – that means we are known globally,” the interviewee shared.
Although Nerija spends most of the year in sunny California, she cannot imagine summer without the Lithuanian seaside. The family has favorite places here that allow them to relax from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
“If we return to Lithuania in the summer, we stay in Kunigiškės. For us, this is simply the best time. The cities are emptier, but here there is relaxation, a lot of activity. We like Palanga, but especially Kunigiškės,” Nerija said.
When asked how she best relaxes while in Lithuania, the woman answered briefly: “I like riding bikes in the pine forest the most.”
