According to those detained, they waited for several hours to be able to fill up with gasoline when a car with tinted windows overtook the line and stopped at the pump. Gas station employees called the police, but they detained not the driver of the car, but the gas station customers who caused the protest.

Residents of Siberia, the Volga region, and the Moscow suburbs are massively reporting draconian queues at gas stations, where they have to spend hours.
The fuel shortage in Russia is turning into increasingly sharp conflicts: drivers try to pass the pumps without waiting in line, use other people’s documents that grant the right to preferential service, and gasoline is poured out from cars in parking lots, sometimes damaging fuel tanks and other car parts.
“It’s like an apocalypse. Everyone is fighting for survival, soon they will start killing over a liter of gasoline,” described the situation one of the publication’s interlocutors living in the Irkutsk region.

“I know the names of eight people, but I do not rule out the possibility that there were more detainees,” said lawyer Sergei. “All were later released without protocols being drawn up. The detainees got the impression that they wanted to scare them and take them as far away from the car as possible so that they could not photograph it and identify the driver.”
According to him, the detainees also claim that the police demanded that they delete the recordings made on their phones, threatening criminal prosecution.
