Let’s start with the fact that Bea is a true artist. She claims to have inherited her name from her grandmother Mona and great-grandmother Liza. She is a self-taught, versatile creator whose voice sounds as if it belongs to a jazz singer twice her age. In the interview, she revealed that she has been dancing since she learned to walk and singing since she was seven. Although it sounds like a talent now, it brought a lot of pain in childhood: “I performed at school events, and everyone just found me annoying,” Bea admitted, having experienced bullying from peers due to her passion for the stage.
Today, the situation is completely different. Her recent cover of the legendary 1949 Édith Piaf song “Hymne à l’amour” leaves listeners breathless as they eagerly await her debut album.
If Greta’s message to the world is about climate, Bea’s is about identity. Her upcoming album, for which she has been writing all the songs herself since she was 13, is described as “supporting LGBTQ+ (pro-queer) and opposing macho culture (anti-macho).” Of the nine songs, seven are already finished. “I keep going back and changing something. This album is about freedom of identity and women’s empowerment,” said the girl known as a “gay icon.”
The contrast between the sisters became even more obvious when Bea was asked about her sister, who constantly appears on the front pages, and she coldly distanced herself: “I am not responsible for other people’s lives.”

Although Bea has nothing to do with Greta’s activism, they do share one trait – both are women with very strong opinions and are not afraid to express them. Bea is particularly outspoken against sexism in the music industry.
“There are many heterosexual male producers who tell me how I should sing. They want to feel like they taught me something. A famous, young woman is very provocative to them because they want to control everything,” she said bluntly.
Although Bea does not hide her desire for worldwide fame, her understanding of success is deeper: “Success might be a feeling. You can be known worldwide but not feel accepted. Or you can have a small fan base and feel very successful.”
It is much more important for her to have fans who truly understand her. “They are very specific. We have the same interests, dress similarly, have the same sense of humor. I am very sarcastic,” the performer described her audience, proving that two completely different but powerful personalities are growing up in the Thunberg family.
