If necessary, ŽŪDC will also perform actions related to land acquisition procedures for public needs.

BNS wrote in February that the railway to the Rūdninkai military training ground will be designed and laid over two years and 8 months for 30.2 million euros (including VAT) by a consortium of one of the largest infrastructure construction companies in the country, “Kauno tiltai,” and the LTG company Railway Construction Center.

The companies will lay an 8.6 km long broad (Russian) gauge – 1520 mm wide – railway branch from the Jašiūnai–Stasylos section to the Rūdninkai training ground.

In preparation for laying the branch, a new 8.2-hectare state land plot will be formed. The majority – 6.2 ha – of the plot consists of nine private plots, which are planned to be taken for public needs. The remaining approximately 2 ha of the future plot is state land.

BNS wrote that a military town in the Šalčininkai district, Rūdninkai, is being built for Lithuania to receive a German military brigade by the end of 2027.
