The cause of the fire is still unclear.
“According to preliminary data, 11 people died,” and 19 others were injured, the country’s civil protection service reported on Thursday, but did not specify the ages of the victims.
National television showed Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb visiting the injured in the hospital.
Algeria has been suffering from a heatwave for several days, and nearly 1,000 fires have been recorded over the week.
