Last week, the Klaipėda District Court’s ruling on the initiation of bankruptcy proceedings for the small partnership “Du gurmanai” registered in the port city came into effect.

“After assessing the circumstances established in the case, the court concludes that the defendant (small partnership – editor’s note) is insolvent, unable to fulfill financial obligations on time, and there is no basis to conclude that the defendant is viable – no data on ongoing economic commercial activity allowing the fulfillment of obligations in the future was found,” the court stated on June 30.
The Klaipėda branch of “Sodra” applied to the court to initiate bankruptcy proceedings, to which “Du gurmanai” owed over 10 thousand in contributions as of April. The institution had warned the business in March that it might apply to the court if the debt was not settled.

The small partnership did not provide an explanation to the court.
The small partnership “Du gurmanai,” which operated the restaurant “Gurmanai” on S. Šimkus Street, was established in Klaipėda in October 2020. The owners announced to the public that various dishes from world cuisines prepared by Klaipėda chef Dainius Špakauskas could be tasted at this location.
The small partnership “Du gurmanai” earned 307.7 thousand euros in revenue last year and incurred a loss of nearly 58 thousand euros; in 2024, it was still profitable – earning 12 thousand euros, with turnover exceeding 350 thousand euros.
