On the social network “Facebook,” the animal welfare organization “Lesė” shared a photo of kittens and appealed for help from internet users. The caregivers not only talked about the little ones’ health condition but also invited the public to help them step into a new stage and choose names for the kittens together.
“We need names!
We are tired of asking: “How is the black little one doing?”, “And how is the black and white sister?”, “How is the turtle-colored girl?”
To be able to call them by names, we invite you to help! We need names for two sisters and a little brother. Write your ideas in the comments, and the names that get the most “likes” will become the names of our little ones.
And how are they doing? Really not bad! Blood parameters are still trying to stabilize, but the kittens are increasingly looking like real kittens: they play, eat, purr, and grow stronger every day.
And one of their doctors, Gintarė, holds the kittens in her hands. Fortunately, she already has a great name, so she won’t need to think of a new one. We can all just say a big THANK YOU to her for the care, concern, and patience with this little gang,” the animal shelter “Lesė” post read.
The message immediately received many responses. The post got over a thousand reactions and more than a hundred comments, in which social media users suggested various names for the surviving kittens.
Among the options were all kinds of names – from simply catchy to those carrying an important message.
However, the suggestion of one internet user received the most reactions and support.
“Hope – because hope did not leave them.
Happiness – because they received help.
Miracle (Stebas) – because their survival really seems like a miracle,” the woman suggested.
This comment received nearly 400 reactions and messages of support.
So the animal welfare organization announced that these names were given to the kittens. This decision delighted many, as the names not only suit the animals but also have great meaning.
Žmonės.lt reminds that the animal welfare organization reported a particularly cruel case of animal abuse on June 19.
A tightly sealed bag was brought to the shelter, in which a mother cat and her adolescent kittens were found. According to the animal caregivers, the cats were severely overheated, disoriented, and experienced great stress. Some had seizures, vomited, had diarrhea, were urinating on themselves, and some had body temperatures reaching even 42 degrees.
“LESĖ” informed that all the cats were urgently taken to a veterinary clinic, where they are receiving intensive care.
Later, the animal caregivers shared that, unfortunately, the mother and one kitten did not survive: “Both were in very serious condition – they were already in agony, fading right in our hands. The mother started bleeding from the anus. Due to severe brain damage and unbearable pain, the doctors decided to euthanize them so they would no longer suffer.”
