“Yes,” BNS said O. Leiputė, when asked if K. Vaitiekūnas agreed to work as deputy minister.

K. Vaitiekūnas will replace Taurimas Valys, who has so far served as deputy foreign minister and will take over the duties of the finance minister. However, O. Leiputė did not specify which areas K. Vaitiekūnas will oversee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The area of oversight has not been discussed because the ministry will review the areas of responsibility. (…) We will still talk with the minister (K. Vaitiekūnas – BNS). Since the minister is on a plane, we have not fully discussed it yet, but what is necessary will be selected,” said O. Leiputė.

BNS wrote that last week President Gitanas Nausėda approved the composition of the new Government submitted by M. Sinkevičius.
