On Monday night, one of the Russian-launched Shahed-type drones flew into Moldovan territory and exploded near a village located almost 30 km from the country’s border with Ukraine, reported the Ukrainian publication “Evropeiska Pravda.”

Officials from Moldova – Ukraine’s war-torn neighbor – reported last month that a drone crashed and exploded in the eastern part of the country.

Earlier, several drones exploded in Romania, an EU and NATO member bordering Moldova and Ukraine.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, Moldovan airspace has been violated dozens of times.

President Maia Sandu said the country needs to strengthen its anti-drone and jamming systems.

Moldova, which wants to join the EU, accuses Russia of active interference in its politics and fears it could become a target of Moscow.
