The Central Election Commission (CEC) is finishing on Monday the registration of political campaign participants who will have the right to nominate candidates for the Seimas in the northern constituency of Nalšia.

By Monday afternoon, 12 parties or their representatives and one individual running independently – former presidential candidate Eduardas Vaitkus – had expressed their desire to participate in the elections.
Parties registered as political campaign participants will still be able to announce the names of the politicians they delegate to the elections until August 20, but some of the future contenders are already known.
After criticism that he would seek a Seimas mandate while already holding it, social democrat Ruslan Baranov withdrew his candidacy – instead, the social democrats will send the outgoing Minister of the Interior Vladislav Kondratovič to the elections.
The “Farmers” and the “Nation and Justice” union already have their candidates, fielding well-known local politicians.
The “Aušriečiai” will announce their decision this week but admit: I. Adomavičius is one of the candidates.
