As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), during a meeting on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council held in Brussels on Monday, discussions also took place about support for Ukraine, the EU and UAE relations agenda.

Discussing the security situation in the Middle East, the appointed minister emphasized that Lithuania supports efforts to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, reduce tensions, and strengthen stability in the region.
According to the MFA, K. Budrys highlighted the importance of close cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council states to ensure operational efficiency.
He stressed that Lithuania condemns Iran’s attacks against the UAE and other countries in the region.
The appointed minister also noted that recent security challenges in the region increase the level of cyber threats, therefore Lithuania proposes strengthening practical cooperation in this area.
According to K. Budrys, Lithuanian technology companies are actively operating in the UAE market and see significant opportunities to expand partnerships in advanced technologies and life sciences.

“We see the United Arab Emirates as economic partners with great potential. We see opportunities to expand trade and investment ties, especially in high-tech sectors,” he is quoted as saying in the statement.
The minister also expressed Lithuania’s support for ongoing EU and UAE free trade agreement negotiations, emphasizing their importance in strengthening economic ties and creating new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
Additionally, K. Budrys invited the UAE to join projects implemented by Lithuania in Ukraine, assuring that targeted partner investments can help quickly and tangibly improve the resilience and living conditions of Ukrainian communities.
The meeting also discussed the issue of preventing sanctions evasion against Russia. K. Budrys urged the UAE to actively contribute to international efforts to prevent their circumvention and thus reduce the Kremlin’s ability to continue aggression against Ukraine.
