Officers of the Lithuanian Prison Service prevented the entry of 15 mobile phones into Pravieniškės 2nd and Šiauliai prisons over the weekend.

On the evening of August 14, the night guard of Pravieniškės 2nd prison, while checking the prison perimeter, noticed four packages wrapped in adhesive tape. Upon inspecting the access from the outside, the officer found another package. After opening all five packages, 10 mobile phones were found inside.

On the evening of August 15, the night guard of Šiauliai prison noticed that an inmate in the living cell was pulling a package delivered from outside into the cell. When the officer entered the cell, the package was pulled in from outside. Upon opening it, four mobile phones and one charging cable were found.

The Lithuanian Prison Service reminds that preventing the entry of prohibited items into correctional facilities is one of the important areas of officers’ work. Control of prison territories, premises, and persons is carried out to ensure the safety of correctional facilities and to prevent prohibited items from entering prisons.
