On June 4, at about 7:30 PM, in Alytus, on Statybininkų Street, officers stopped a BMW car carrying 17 and 19-year-old youths. Packets containing a crystalline, suspected psychotropic substance, as well as cannabis, were found in the car’s interior.
Continuing the pre-trial investigation procedures, criminalists searched an apartment on Statybininkų St. belonging to a 36-year-old man. During the search, 40 plastic zip-lock bags containing about 150 g of crystalline substance and three electronic scales were found and seized at the man’s home.

Soon after, on the same day, officers stopped another BMW car driven by a 32-year-old woman. According to available data, she allegedly had cannabis with her, and one round of ammunition was found in the car’s interior.
During the investigation, another 19-year-old resident of Alytus, who is possibly connected to the criminal acts under investigation, was also detained.

All five detained persons have been charged under Articles 259 (1) and (2) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania for illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances without intent to distribute them, Article 260 (1) for illegal possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances with intent to distribute them, Article 261 for distribution of narcotic or psychotropic substances to minors, and Article 253 (1) for illegal possession of ammunition.
One of the detainees (born in 1990), whose apartment was searched, is known to law enforcement officials and has previously been repeatedly convicted for theft, public order offenses, grievous bodily harm, and other criminal acts.
