A family who lost their father and home in a fire in Galgiai is asking for public help

The accident occurred on September 15 in the Mickūnai eldership, Galgiai village, Central Street.

The General Emergency Center received the report at 13:01. It was reported that a wooden residential house was burning with open flames.

Vilnius County fire and rescue forces were dispatched to the scene, and paramedics were also informed about the accident.

At 13:26, firefighters carried out a severely burned human body from the burning house.

A day after the accident, a family member posted on social media that the family lost not only their home and belongings in the fire but also a close person.

“Yesterday our family suffered a painful tragedy. Our house completely burned down in the fire. Unfortunately, the fire also took my father’s life,” wrote Brigita Nenienė.

According to her, in a moment the family lost their home, clothes, belongings, and practically everything needed for daily life.

“We need to take care of the most essential daily needs and start life anew,” the woman wrote.

The family is currently primarily looking for ways to secure temporary housing and essential items.

Relatives are asking those who can to contribute financially. According to the family, any help, even small, is important.

Collected funds will be used for temporary housing, clothes, children’s needs, and other daily necessities.
