This September, IKEA reduced the prices of more than 1000 products. Discover space for what you love
One of the simplest ways to give your home more personality is to let your favorite and cherished items shine. Books, travel souvenirs, family photos, artworks, or various collections often remain hidden in drawers, although properly displayed they can add more character and coziness to the interior.
“Empty walls and surfaces can sometimes create the impression of unfinished homes. Items important to you kept in visible places help create a cozier, lively space that reflects your personality,” says Morta Bučinskienė, Head of IKEA Interior Design Department.
A bookcase, for example, BILLY for 39 Eur (previously – 49 Eur), can help turn everyday and favorite items into part of the interior. Books do not have to be arranged in neat rows – they can be combined with framed photos, plants, ceramics, or travel souvenirs. This way, shelves will look more lively, and the interior will become more personal and interesting.
Create interior accents using mirrors
Mirrors are often chosen for practical reasons, but they can also become a distinctive interior detail. A properly chosen mirror location helps reflect light and draw attention to favorite spots in the home. According to M. Bučinskienė, large mirrors, such as LINDBYN for 59.99 Eur (previously – 69.99 Eur), are especially useful in smaller homes. They can give the room more openness and spaciousness without taking up additional floor space.
“A mirror reflects not only the room but also the life happening in it. Hanging it opposite a decorated wall, a bookshelf, or a favorite corner of the home can highlight the details that give the home its personality,” advises the IKEA interior designer.
Preserve memories, not clutter
On the other hand, to give your home more personality, it is not necessary to keep all your belongings in visible places. On the contrary – suitable storage solutions can help emphasize what you really want to show even more.

“It is easier to notice and appreciate items dear to us when they do not have to compete for attention with many other things. Suitable storage solutions help maintain a balance between what we want to see and order in the home,” says M. Bučinskienė.
Storage boxes, such as SAMLA, costing from 1.99 Eur (previously – 2.49 Eur), help keep seasonal decorations, children’s drawings and crafts, hobby supplies, or items with sentimental value neatly stored while keeping them easily accessible. Transparent boxes are especially practical – their contents can be seen without opening each box.
Occasionally change favorite details
Instead of displaying all favorite items at once, the interior designer recommends periodically swapping decorations, books, or artworks kept on shelves with each other. This way, the home interior can be easily refreshed, and different favorite items can have a chance to be in the spotlight.
“Homes change along with the people living in them. Sometimes it is enough to rearrange books differently, change the items displayed on the shelf, or take out favorite details kept in a box for a while to make the room look completely different,” advises the IKEA interior designer.
