Apple is entering the foldable phone market for the first time, increasing focus on artificial intelligence (AI), improving battery life, introducing a new generation processor, and one of the biggest camera system upgrades in recent years. Meanwhile, Telia informs when the new devices will be available for purchase.

According to Telia’s equipment manager Jonas Puodzius, the biggest news this year is undoubtedly the first foldable Apple phone.
“The foldable iPhone has been talked about in the tech world since 2017. Apple traditionally did not rush to be first, but aimed to offer a mature product. Therefore, the debut of the iPhone Duo is one of the most anticipated events in the smartphone market in recent years,” says J. Puodzius.
Telia announces that those who want to be the first to order the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max can do so starting September 12 at 3 PM in Telia stores and online. Both models will officially appear in stores on September 18 at 10 AM, coinciding with the opening of Telia stores.
The largest Apple phone in history
The folded iPhone Duo’s external screen measures 5.4 inches, and when unfolded, users are greeted by a 7.6-inch internal screen – the largest in the iPhone series. The internal screen area is roughly twice as large as the iPhone 18 Pro Max, so the device can function both as a phone and a compact tablet at the same time.
The new model also stands out in construction. The titanium body is additionally reinforced with ceramic fibers, and the device has a high dust and water resistance rating. Interestingly, Apple has abandoned the usual Face ID components and the Dynamic Island on the external screen. Instead, Touch ID is integrated into the side button, and the front camera hidden under the screen operates on the internal display.
“The company’s entry into this segment could be an important turning point. Until now, foldable devices made up a small share of the smartphone market, but Apple often manages to turn niche technologies into mass ones. Therefore, the entire industry is closely watching the launch of the iPhone Duo,” considers the Telia expert.

Focus on batteries and AI in the iPhone 18 series
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max were introduced together, both debuting the A20 Pro processor, created using 2-nanometer technology. According to the manufacturer, it ensures higher performance and allows even smoother use of AI features such as Apple Intelligence and the updated Siri.
With the new devices, Apple further emphasizes AI capabilities. The updated Siri will be able to perform actions in hundreds of apps, allowing users to complete more tasks by voice and with more natural language commands.
“More natural Siri communication means users will be able to interact with the phone more like with a person. Instead of specific commands, you can simply say what you need, and the system will understand the context and perform the necessary actions,” explains J. Puodzius.
One of the most significant innovations is battery life. Apple claims to have created the longest-lasting iPhones on a single charge. The iPhone 18 Pro Max allows video playback for up to 45 hours, so users will need to worry less about charging even with intensive use.
In photography, Apple also introduced one of the biggest upgrades in recent years. The new 48 MP main camera has a variable aperture that adapts to lighting conditions and allows higher quality photos in the dark. More professional manual settings for photo and video shooting have also been added.
“The camera remains one of the key strengths of the iPhone, but this year we see a much broader range of updates. Alongside significant photography improvements, more attention has been paid to AI, performance, and battery life, so users will benefit not only when taking photos but also in everyday phone use,” says J. Puodzius.
