Three of the four clubs that played in last season’s EuroLeague Final Four are expected to participate: the champion Olympiakos of Piraeus, finalist Real Madrid, and Fenerbahçe of Istanbul, who lost in the semifinals, coached by Šarūnas Jasikevičius and Kazys Maksvytis, and represented by Ignas Sargiūnas.
The fourth team selected is Dubai, which will play as the host.
However, information has now appeared in the media that the tournament may not take place after all. This was reported by Sport24 journalist Harris Stavrou.
“I think discussions about the EuroLeague Supercup tournament in Abu Dhabi started yesterday or the day before,” the journalist said in a podcast on the portal. “Although EuroLeague has already announced tickets, participants, match dates, and pairings, and even sent out a link for journalist accreditations yesterday, there currently seems to be a lot of uncertainty. The situation is unclear, and I think a final decision needs to be made.”
H. Stavrou emphasizes that this tournament is hanging by a thread due to the unclear situation in Abu Dhabi.

“In my opinion, the teams are a bit worried about the situation in the Middle East,” the Greek revealed. “I don’t know if this concerns all three teams, but I definitely know about two that have doubts. Dubai, which started preparing for the season, is not training there but went to Turkey. Whatever decision is needed, it must be made quickly. I hope it happens today or tomorrow, not on Monday.”
The Sport24 show emphasizes that relocating the tournament to another location is not being considered, and the situation is being evaluated daily.
On the first day of the tournament, the semifinals should feature Fenerbahçe vs. Olympiakos, and in the other semifinal, Real vs. Dubai.
