Formerly representing “Banga,” current “Panevėžys” forward Valdas Paulauskas shook the Gargždai goalpost in the 11th minute, and soon after the first goal fell – in the 17th minute, after a raised corner caused confusion, Ernestas Burdzilauskas was the first to reach the ball and directed it into the goal.

The trailing “Banga” tried to equalize, and the closest was Misaki Sato who hit the crossbar and Ignas Venckus who broke through one-on-one with the goalkeeper Vytautas Černiauskas but failed to disarm him.
Finally, the Panevėžys team secured the victory with two more goals – in the 76th minute after a corner, Strahinja Kerkezas scored, and in the 89th minute, Ernestas Veliulis added the third goal.
This is already the third “Panevėžys” victory against “Banga” this season. The previous two matches were won by Panevėžys with identical scores of 1:0.
Interestingly, “Panevėžys” won two consecutive matches for the first time this season – on Sunday, the Aukštaitija team defeated Vilnius “Žalgiris” 2:0.
Despite the win, Panevėžys remains in seventh place with 29 points.
“Banga,” which could have risen to second place with a victory, remains fourth with 38 points and continues to fight for a spot in next year’s UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
