According to the criminal case data, the man participated in ten criminal acts. The fraudsters falsely explained to the victims over the phone about allegedly counterfeit money kept at home and persuaded them to hand over their savings to the supposed officer who arrived.

It was established that the accused, together with accomplices, fraudulently obtained 18,860 euros, and attempted to extort at least another 1,200 euros, but the criminal acts were not completed. The victims lost various amounts – from 250 to 8,000 euros.
The court found G. N. guilty of 10 episodes of fraud, as well as illegal possession and use of an electronic payment instrument, illegal use of electronic data, and impersonation of a public official acting in an organized group.
For the crimes committed, he was sentenced to a final punishment of 3 years, 10 months, and 10 days of imprisonment.

The court imposed a criminal penalty on the convicted recidivist – confiscation of property and confiscated 4,400 euros for the benefit of the state. He will also have to compensate the victims’ civil claims for the material damage suffered – a total of 11,450 euros.
The verdict can be appealed to the Šiauliai District Court within twenty days from the date of its announcement.
