Former Lithuanian national team footballer Igoris Kirilovas has died

The well-known footballer of the country, aged 55, died on Monday.

This was reported by former teammate Paulius Malžinskas.

“Igoris Kirilovas passed away on Monday. I understand we are just sand and dust in this world, but it hurts when people leave so early,” P. Malžinskas wrote on Facebook.

The creative defender played for Vilnius “Panerio” club from 1991 to 1994, Šiauliai “Kareda” from 1994 to 1995, FBK “Kaunas” team from 1995 to 1999, and later started his career as a legionnaire. From 1999 to 2000, he played for Israel’s Jerusalem “Hapoel” club, in 2000 for “FS Vagar” team in the Faroe Islands, in 2001 he returned to Lithuania and played for Rūdiškės “Vėtra”, from 2001 to 2002 he played for Kazakhstan’s Kostanay “Tobol” club, and in 2003 for Kazakhstan’s “Zetisu” team.
