“Multiple orgasms refer to the case when a person experiences more than one orgasm during a single sexual session, with very short breaks or none at all between them,” explains sexologist Shamyra Howard.
According to her, there is no universal number of orgasms a person can experience. For some, it may be two or three, for others – five or even more, writes “Women’s Health”.
What does it feel like?
For some people, one orgasm almost immediately transitions into another. Such orgasms are sometimes called “rolling” – the sensation of pleasure comes in waves.
Others experience a short relaxation period after the first orgasm, and then arousal gradually returns. The most important thing is to maintain arousal and not extinguish the feeling of pleasure after the first orgasm.
According to the sexologist, multiple orgasms can be beneficial not only in terms of pleasure. During orgasm, substances such as dopamine and oxytocin are released, which can help relax, reduce stress, and strengthen the feeling of closeness.
Moreover, sexual exploration allows better understanding of one’s own body, understanding what brings pleasure, and in a couple – better understanding of the partner’s needs.

Who finds it easier to experience multiple orgasms?
The sexologist emphasizes that theoretically various people can experience multiple orgasms. However, it is often easier for women because their bodies usually do not require as long a recovery period after orgasm as many men do.
After orgasm, the tissues of the vulva and vagina often remain sensitive to stimulation, although sensitivity can sometimes be even too high for a while. At that time, many men need a longer break before sexual stimulation becomes pleasurable again.
Nevertheless, sexologists stress that there are no absolute rules in sexual life – people’s experiences vary greatly.
How to increase the likelihood of experiencing multiple orgasms?
1. Don’t focus on the outcome
Too much pressure on yourself can interfere with relaxation and enjoying the process. Research on multiple orgasms is still limited, and less than a fifth of women report having experienced more than one orgasm during a single sexual session.
So if it doesn’t happen – that’s completely normal. Also, the second or third orgasm is not necessarily more intense than the first. The most important thing is not to seek the greatest intensity, but to learn to better feel your body.

2. Don’t rush
Experts advise not to try to reach the first orgasm as quickly as possible. The body and nervous system need relaxation to make it easier to maintain arousal.
Therefore, it is worth spending more time on kissing, touching, caressing, and other activities that help gradually increase arousal. Once you find what feels good, there is no need to immediately change actions – you can enjoy the same sensation longer.
3. Experiment with different stimulation
Sexologists say that sex toys can help some people try various sensations. For many women, clitoral stimulation is important, so it can be one of the ways to achieve multiple orgasms.
When using sex toys, it is recommended to start with lower intensity and allow the body to gradually get used to the stimulation.
4. Observe your body’s reaction after the first orgasm
After the first orgasm, it is worth paying attention to how the body feels. If the stimulation is still pleasurable, it can be continued. If a certain area has become too sensitive or even painful, experts advise changing the nature of the stimulation – paying more attention to other body parts, kissing, or touching.
It is important not to ignore pain. Pleasure should not be forced into a painful experience.

5. Be patient
The experience of multiple orgasms usually does not come immediately. It may take time for a person to learn to understand their body’s reactions.
One time you may experience one orgasm, another time none, and yet another time several. Each experience can help better understand what works for that particular person.
Overall well-being is also important
Sexual experience is influenced not only by stimulation but also by a person’s physical and emotional state. Stress, fatigue, hormonal changes, and even dehydration can affect arousal.
According to the sexologist, increased cortisol levels due to stress can make arousal more difficult, and for some people, sexual desire and orgasm may be easier at certain times of the menstrual cycle.
Therefore, if you don’t manage to experience multiple orgasms the first, second, or even tenth time, it does not mean you are doing something wrong. The most important thing is not chasing results, but the ability to relax, get to know your body, and enjoy what feels good.
