Tensions arose in the final minutes of the match when a masked individual stormed onto the field and physically clashed with several Danubio players. They confronted the players, and the conflict escalated into a fight with goalkeeper Kevin Martinez. The situation was eventually brought under control by the intervening police.

The referees stopped the match for three minutes and later ended the game early to ensure the players’ safety.
Amateur footage filmed from the stands shows that the police responded sluggishly, so the footballers had to defend themselves for a while against fans rushing onto the field.

Nahuel Da Silva’s brace in the second half led to Danubio’s 0-2 defeat. After two Uruguay Cup matches, the team is third in Group A with 3 points.
The fans’ anger is further fueled by the poor season of the four-time Uruguayan champions. In the national championship, Danubio has collected 18 points in 15 matches and is in 11th place.
