Celebration in Kretinga – “Minija” advanced to the LFF Cup final

One of the First League leaders, having previously defeated two Top League clubs, in the semifinal after a dramatic battle 3:2 (0:1) overcame another First League representative Alytaus „Dainava“.

The latter led twice in this match but did not maintain the advantage.

The hosts scored two goals by Nigerian Diba Nwegbo (51 and 79 min.), one added by Linas Zingertas (70 min.).

In the ranks of „Dainava“ scored Gustas Zabita (11 min.) and Senegalese Sow Abou (69 min.).

In the LFF Cup final, Kretinga’s team will face „Kauno Žalgiris“ or „Šiauliai“. The second semifinal will take place on Thursday at 17:15 in Šiauliai.

„Minija“, whose one of the investors is the famous French footballer Moussa Dembele, this season is also knocking on the Top League doors – it has the same number of points as Plungė’s „Babrungas“ (55 points each), but still has one match in reserve.

The winners of the second division will be promoted directly to the highest national league, and the team that takes second place will play a playoff series with the club that finished second to last in the Top League.
