Official EuroLeague website experts Geoff Gillingham, Frankie Sachs, and Igor Petrinović provided their ratings for this ranking.
Although the experts’ opinions did not always coincide, the final team ranking was made based on the average of their assigned places.
The biggest jump in the ranking was made by Tel Aviv’s Maccabi and Villeurbanne’s ASVEL. Both teams significantly strengthened their rosters in August by signing contracts with several new players.
1. (0) – Athens Panathinaikos
The only serious source of concern for the “greens” fans is the knee surgery performed on Kendrick Nunn last month. If the guard misses most or even the entire preseason, it may be harder for the team to quickly find chemistry. How will Željko Obradović manage to unite all his stars from the start?
2. (0) – Piraeus Olympiacos
Although Thomas Walkup’s situation is still unresolved, the “reds” have enough options in the guard rotation and many experienced leaders. The front line was further strengthened by the recently joined Mbaye Ndiaye. Will the pursuit to defend the title at the start of the season give the team extra energy or become a burden?
3. (0) – Istanbul Fenerbahce
A loss in the first preseason game may scare some, but there is no reason to worry. The team has plenty of talent, and the coach likes the challenge of building a winning squad. Still, won’t it be strange to see Shane Larkin leading Fenerbahce?
4. (0) – Madrid Real
This will be a different Madrid Real, having lost its two top scorers last season – Trey Lyles and Mario Hezonja. The team will also have a new face in coach Pedro Martinez, who replaced his predecessor. Will Real have found its game by the start of the season?
5. (0) – Tel Aviv Hapoel
Hapoel has one of the deepest rosters in the entire league. If several EuroLeague newcomers adapt quickly, this team could become one of the most dangerous in the tournament. The question even arises – could Hapoel’s bench five compete for a playoff spot on their own?
6. (0) – Dubai Basketball
After an impressive debut season in the EuroLeague, the Dubai club strengthened even more over the summer. The team is now led by Xavi Pascual, and several experienced stars have joined the project – the latest being Toko Shengelia. How far can this team go?
7. (0) – Istanbul Anadolu Efes
The recently signed contract with Fatts Russell further strengthened an already powerful guard rotation. Efes’ roster was formed according to coach Pablo Laso’s vision, so the team’s play should be very enjoyable to watch. But how will the Istanbul team look on defense?
8. (0) – Kaunas Žalgiris
Žalgiris, which finished fifth in the regular season last year, lost Sylvain Francisco and Moses Wright, but they were replaced by Jonas Valančiūnas, Carsen Edwards, and Saben Lee. Can the Lithuanian champions be even stronger this season?
9 (+1) – Belgrade Crvena Zvezda
Last season Crvena Zvezda lacked stability, but at their best moments, they were dangerous to any opponent. Will Ibon Navarro be the coach to elevate this team to a higher level?

10. (-1) – Milan Armani Olimpia
The last player to join the team, Garrison Mathews, immediately showed scoring prowess at the start of the preseason. This is great news for coach Peppe Poeta. But will the American be able to demonstrate such play against EuroLeague opponents?
11. (+3) – Tel Aviv Maccabi
The arrivals of Daniel Theis and Keaton Wallace have undoubtedly increased Maccabi’s potential. Will these additions help Oded Kattash’s team return to the playoffs?
12. (-1) – Barcelona
Barcelona’s chances to compete for top spots will largely depend on five EuroLeague rookies. How many of them will successfully integrate into the team for Barca to become a real title contender?
13. (-1) – Valencia
The recruitment of Armoni Brooks was a solid move for Valencia. The team should continue to rely on the fast offense demonstrated last season. But will this season’s roster be deep enough to repeat previous results?
14. (-1) – Belgrade Partizan
Joan Penarroya used his first summer at the helm of Partizan to significantly reshape the roster. The coach assembled an experienced team with plenty of bright leaders. Will Partizan manage to forget last season’s turbulence and move forward?
15. (0) – Munich Bayern
On paper, Bayern has a lot of talent – the roster includes good shooters, athletic players, and strong guards. The arrival of MarJon Beauchamp became another weapon. Will Anton Gavel be able to make history in his first EuroLeague season as head coach?
16. (+4) – Villeurbanne ASVEL
No EuroLeague team was as active as ASVEL in August. Tony Parker’s coached team will not lack talent, but the roster does not have many players at their career peak or already established in the EuroLeague. Will Parker’s team be able to play in an NBA style and achieve results in the EuroLeague?
17. (-1) – Istanbul Beşiktaş
The fact cannot be escaped – Beşiktaş lacks EuroLeague experience. However, in recent years, this has not prevented some teams from reaching the playoffs. Will Dušan Alimpijević be able to create the necessary chemistry and help the team exceed expectations?
18. (-1) – Paris Basketball
This could be one of the hardest EuroLeague teams to predict. Nadir Hifi, Frank Ntilikina, and T.J. Warren give a lot of potential to Maxime Lefevre, preparing for his first season as head coach. But will it be enough to fight for top spots?
19. (-1) – Bologna Virtus
Although Virtus lacks a clear leader who can consistently take initiative in crucial moments, the team has many ambitious young players. How far can they take the Bologna team?
20. (-1) – Vitoria Baskonia
Recently joined Kenneth Faried did not solve all the problems in the front line, which still lacks depth. Baskonia enters the season with many question marks. Who will answer them?
