Hackers gained access to customers’ email addresses, phone numbers, vehicle license plate numbers, and postal codes. Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which manages these three airports, stated that the incident affected data related to “car park, lounge, and fast track booking and registration for airport Wi-Fi services.”

The company also added that “no passenger safety or aviation security was compromised during the incident,” and airport operations were not affected by the incident. Customer bank account and payment data were not stored in the system affected by the hack.
London Stansted Airport said in an email to customers: “We urge you to be especially cautious of unexpected emails, calls, or text messages claiming to be sent on our behalf. We will never contact you unexpectedly asking for payment or bank information. We apologize for any inconvenience or concern this may have caused.”
A MAG spokesperson said on Thursday that the company “immediately managed the risk arising from the incident” and “is working with specialist consultants and taking appropriate actions to protect its customers and systems.”

“We have informed the relevant authorities and are cooperating with them. No passenger safety or aviation security was compromised during the incident,” he said. “The incident did not cause any operational disruptions. Airport operations are unaffected, and customer car parking services continue as usual.”
The spokesperson added: “We would like to assure customers that Manchester Airport Group takes the security of customer information very seriously and apologize for any inconvenience or concern this may have caused.”
