In the 25 m pistol event 30+30, which consists of shooting at a round and appearing target, M. Baranauskas scored 571 points – 12X and took third place. 23 athletes competed for the European Championship awards in this event.
The fight for the medals was very fierce. The European U18 champion was Ukrainian representative Illia Lasch, who scored 572 points – 15X. The silver medal was won by Bulgarian athlete Kaloyan Petkov – 571 points – 15X. Mindaugas Baranauskas also scored 571 points, but having 12 inner tens – 12X – he took third place in the final standings.

The bronze medal is the result of the work of a long-time and focused athlete and his coach Vida Zvicevičienė. A long road was taken to this achievement – many trainings, national and international starts, consistent improvement of results and focused preparation for the most important competitions of the season.
“This is a long-sought goal. Behind such a result lies many years of work, patience and perseverance. The European Championship medal shows that the chosen direction and the consistent work of the athlete and coach bring results,” the Lithuanian Shooting Sport Union rejoices in the athlete’s achievement.
Mindaugas Baranauskas’s third place is an important result not only for the athlete himself and his coach but also for Lithuanian shooting sport. Only one point separated the Lithuanian athlete from the European champion, and the number of Xs decided the silver medal. Such competition further highlights the value of Mindaugas’s achievement and his ability to fight for the highest positions in European competitions.
