“I had to fight not only against very accurate opponents but also against the heat, which exceeded 36 degrees. And also against the targets of one of the best shooting ranges creators Jamie Peckham… I am happy with the results of our entire team,” said world and European champion V. Grybė, who leads the shooting academy “VG Shooting Academy.”
In the team standings, the Lithuanian national team, demonstrating high mastery results at the “Sologne Shooting Club” shooting range, shared 12th–13th places with the Belgian team. Simas Petraitis scored 189 points out of 200, while Aleksandr Derbin and Tomas Momkus hit 184 targets out of 200 each. Akvilina Zabielienė also performed excellently, hitting 173 targets out of 200 and taking 31st place among women. The absolute winner of the competition was Frenchman Charles Bardou, who demonstrated an exceptional result at his “home” shooting range – 200 hits out of 200 possible. Such a result is very rare in top-level international competitions.

“The results of Lithuanian shooters on the international stage once again confirm the high skill and competitiveness of our country’s athletes globally,” said the new president of the Lithuanian Sporting Federation Povilas Straševičius. “Lithuanian shooters constantly participate in world, European, and other continental championships and cup stages. These starts not only allow testing strength against the strongest athletes in the world but also consistently strengthen Lithuania’s shooting sport positions on the international stage.”
According to P. Straševičius, the country’s shooters are currently intensively preparing for one of the most important events of the season – the 22nd World “Compak Sporting” Championship, which will take place this year from August 20–23 in Italy. Preparation for the championship includes targeted training, participation in control competitions, and strengthening physical and psychological readiness.

“We hope that Lithuanian athletes will successfully represent the country at the world championship, strive for high personal and team results, and contribute to the development of shooting at flying targets sport in Lithuania and international recognition,” said the president of the Lithuanian Sporting Federation.
The competition was also successful for Lithuanian judge Ernestas Mackevičius, who defended the international “Compak Sporting” judge category.
“Compak Sporting” is the most popular discipline of shooting at flying targets in Lithuania, attracting more and more athletes and amateurs every year. In the FITASC “Compak Sporting” event, shooting is done at flying targets on specially adapted fields, where five shooting stations are arranged in one line at distances of 3–5 meters, around which six target-throwing machines are placed.
Shooting at flying targets, also called shooting at clay pigeons, consists of various events where targets made of fragile ecological material are launched by special devices and shot with a smoothbore shotgun loaded with small pellets. This sport is very popular worldwide and accessible to a very wide audience – the age range of shooters is very broad – from 12-year-old children to masters over 75 years old.
