On the evening of August 16th, at 8:20 PM, the Plungė police reported an elderly woman lost in the forest. The Plungė 802nd Riflemen’s Unit responded very quickly to the report – they gathered and departed for the scene in just 30 minutes.

The search area was very challenging: dense forest, marshy terrain, and night. Two drones were deployed for the search, and the forest was combed by police officers and riflemen units together.
Three hours of intense searching, anxiety, and hope… And finally – the result. We found the elderly woman.

The riflemen were also assisted in finding the elderly woman by the Military Air Forces helicopter “AS365 Dauphin,” which was deployed at 9:05 PM.
Around midnight, the helicopter crew identified the location of the missing person using a thermal imager and transmitted the coordinates to the ground police team, which found the missing person.
