On Friday at about 12:53 p.m., emergency services were notified about an accident on the Vilnius–Ukmergė road.
According to preliminary data from the Vilnius County Police, three cars collided in the Ukmergė district, Pivonija eldership, within the boundaries of Vileikiai village near Krikštenai, about 28 km from Ukmergė.
The accident occurred in the direction from the capital to Panevėžys, on the A2 highway section between the towns of Širvintos and Ukmergė. The “Waze” app recorded a significant traffic jam at the incident site.
According to a representative of the Vilnius VPK, the reporter mentioned possibly trapped people, but more precise information about the consequences of the accident was initially unknown.
Firefighters, medics, and police were dispatched to the scene.
It turned out that two cars collided, one of them ended up in a ditch.
According to the Fire Protection and Rescue Department, the report about the accident was received at 12:50. It was actually reported that “three cars collided, there may be trapped people.”
However, when firefighters arrived, it turned out that two cars collided, one of them ended up in a ditch.
Firefighters rescued a trapped person from one of the cars and handed them over to paramedics.
