The first client of the FL Technics hangar in the Dominican Republic became one of the largest US airlines – JetBlue

A total of about 70 million USD has been invested in the new aircraft maintenance base. The Punta Cana International Airport, which is the second busiest airport in Central America by number of flights served, was chosen for the hangar with an area of more than 20,000 sq. m. The hangar is certified not only by the Dominican Republic (IDAC) but also by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The new Punta Cana hangar can currently service up to 5 aircraft simultaneously.

“We are pleased that the first client of the new hangar was an airline from the USA – this is a significant recognition from the international market, showing trust in our team, its experience, and competencies in aviation. Currently, Lithuanian aviation specialists are actively working in Punta Cana, transferring the knowledge, experience, and high work standards accumulated over many years to the local team. I am proud to see how talents developed in Lithuania contribute to our international expansion, strengthen the country’s aviation reputation worldwide, and together create a new chapter in the aviation history of the Dominican Republic,” says Juozas Lapeika, head of the aircraft maintenance and repair department at the FL Technics group.

According to him, the Caribbean region offers suitable conditions for developing the aircraft maintenance business due to its geographical location and local talents. This hangar is the first aircraft maintenance and repair center in the country, and in the long term, it is planned to employ up to 2,000 aviation mechanics and other specialists there. The company sees its presence here as an investment not only in business development but also in the future of the region’s aviation.

The FL Technics group operates 7 aircraft maintenance and repair centers in Europe, Indonesia, and America, and the company’s line maintenance stations operate worldwide. Over the past decade, the company’s revenue has grown almost fourfold – from 105.3 million USD in 2016 to 405.2 million USD in 2025.
