A woman born in 1964 contacted the Jonava district police, reporting that on Monday she received calls from unknown Russian-speaking persons who, posing as “Google” and bank employees, fraudulently convinced her to hand over her bank card. She gave it to an unknown man who arrived at her home. Later, the complainant noticed that nearly 23,900 euros had been stolen from her bank account. The suspects – a man born in 1989 and a woman born in 2002 – have been detained.
A man born in 1960 reported to the capital’s police that on July 22 he received calls from unknown Russian-speaking persons who, posing as “Google” and bank employees as well as police officers, fraudulently extorted his bank payment card and convinced him to take a 15,000 euro loan via an online platform. Later, the victim noticed that 23,000 euros had been illegally withdrawn from his bank account.
