On the second day of the championship, another set of medals was distributed. 15 teams competed in the girls’ (U17) relay competition. Lithuanian representatives were sixth after the fencing event, later they were the fastest in the obstacle course, and took 10th place in swimming. The Lithuanians started the last running and shooting event in third place. However, inaccurate shots prevented S.Skurvydaite and G.Ūkanyte from winning a medal for Lithuania. They finished fifth.

“I couldn’t control the stress and just didn’t shoot. It’s a pity, but we are still happy with the result,” G.Ūkanytė said after the finish.
The Lithuanian team was 17 seconds (1211 points) short of third place. Turkish athletes became world champions (1249 pts), Egyptians became vice-champions (1229 pts), and representatives of Great Britain won bronze (1228 pts).

Today, the boys’ (U22) qualification competitions also took place. Out of 8 Lithuanian representatives, only Liutauras Valeika, who took 4th place in Group A, qualified for the semi-finals. The 12 strongest athletes from each of the three groups advanced to the next stage of the competition.

Tomorrow, the girls’ (U22) semi-finals will take place at the championship, where two Lithuanian representatives – Gustė Pečiulytė and Martina Rutkauskaitė – will compete. Another 8 Lithuanian pentathletes will compete in the boys’ (U17) qualification competitions.
